Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. ~Psalm 37:4

Baptism Coming Soon
F has decided to follow Jesus!! We are so excited she will be baptized on Father's Day... woohoo!
Please take a moment to review what we believe the Bible teaches about Baptism and its importance.
Why Should I Be Baptized?
1. IT FOLLOWS THE Example OF CHRIST.
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Mark 1:9
JESUS Commands HIS FOLLOWERS TO BE BAPTIZED.
"Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to
the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
IT Demonstrates MY COMMITMENT.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
Hebrews 10:23
By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 1 John 2:3
What is the meaning of Baptism?
IT SYMBOLIZES CHRIST’S BURIAL AND RESURRECTION.
Having
been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with
Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Colossians 2:12
IT SYMBOLIZES MY New Life IN CHRIST.
Therefore
we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as
Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we
too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
Therefore if
anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away;
behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Key points to remember about Baptism:
It does not wash away your sin. Only Jesus can do that!
It
does not make you a believer—it shows that you already believe in
Christ. Baptism does not “save” you; only your faith in Christ does
that.
Baptism is like a wedding ring, it’s the outward symbol of a new relationship.
For
by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may
boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Why should I be baptized by immersion?
1. Jesus WAS BAPTIZED BY IMMERSION.
After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water… Matthew 3:16
2. Every BAPTISM IN THE BIBLE WAS BY IMMERSION.
(Example)
… then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip
baptized him. When they came up out of the water…" Acts 8:38-39
THE WORD ‘Baptize’ MEANS TO Dip Under WATER.
The Greek word "baptizo" means “to immerse or dip under water.”
IT BEST SYMBOLIZES A BURIAL AND RESURRECTION.
Who should be baptized?
BELIEVERS!
Every person who has trusted Christ as Lord and Savior should be baptized.
So then, those who had received his word were baptized… Acts 2:41
But
when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of
God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and
women alike. Acts 8:12
